The Spallino family's Honda is, well, a little bit odd.

It has no trunk, so when Sandy Spallino shops for her family of four, she has to stack her groceries carefully to fit them all into the hatchback cargo area.

It only has three doors, so daughters Adrianna, 12, and Anna, 10, have to climb into the back seat through a single side door.

But the most important difference is the one you can't see: The Spallinos are traveling in Honda's FCX, a small car powered by a fuel cell that uses compressed hydrogen gas rather than gasoline. They are the first family in the U.S. to live with such a high-tech vehicle; the City of Los Angeles has been leasing the FCX for official business since December 2002, according to the company's Web site.
