Los Angeles — Hydrogen fuel-cell cars are supposed to be our future. But the first thing I noticed when I drove one was how it reminded me of the past.
Several carmakers are showing off hydrogen-fueled cars at the Los Angeles Auto Show, which opened to the public on Friday.
My glimpse of what everybody from President Bush to the CEO of General Motors tells me is our future was an ordinary-looking Ford Focus. It wasn't even a new model, but one based on Ford's 2002 model. That's how long they've been working on this stuff.
